DP World renews concession contract with Constanta port

DP World Constanta, a subsidiary of the Dubai-headquartered global trade enabler DP World, renewed its concession agreement allowing it to operate in the
Romanian Black Sea port of Constanta for another 30 years, until 2049.
DP World Group Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem signed the agreement with the Romanian Transport Minister Razvan Cuc in the presence of Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Matrooshi, UAE Ambassador to Romania, as well as a number of senior Romanian officials.
DP World won the tender for the long-term concession of the Constanta Container Terminal in November 2003 and started operating it in 2004. The Port Authority and Constanta Chamber of Commerce have recognised the DP World-run terminal as the best port operator in Constanta every year since its inception.
The new agreement allows DP World Constanta to maintain, operate and further develop the Constanta South Terminal. The terminal serves both the Romanian domestic market and a wider hinterland spreading into parts of Central Europe, together with first-class feeder connections to the Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Georgia and Moldova. The geographic location has also proved ideal as a reliable trans-shipment hub for the greater Black Sea region.
The current capacity of the terminal is 1,000,000 TEU, and there is sufficient land area for phased expansion to cater for volumes greater than 4,500,000 TEU.

DP World is ‘Strategic Partner’ for Arab Media Forum 2019

Dubai Press Club (DPC), organiser of the Arab Media Forum, on Tuesday announced that DP World is the strategic partner of the 18th edition of the event, which is scheduled to be held from March 27-28 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The partnership is part of a three-year agreement signed between DPC and global trade enabler DP World in 2018, which aims to support three consecutive editions of the major annual media event up until 2020.
Running this year under the theme ‘Arab Media: From Now to the Future’, the two-day event is expected to draw the participation of over 3,000 prominent regional and international media figures and thought leaders. The Forum is considered an ideal platform to exchange expertise, network and learn about the latest issues concerning the media industry.
Commenting on the announcement, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, said, “The Arab Media Forum has become a key event on the media landscape, bringing together some of the most prominent Arab and international thinkers, writers and influencers. Form her part, Mona Al Marri, President of DPC and Chairperson of AMF’s Organising Committee, hailed the exemplary partnership between DPC and DP World. “DP World’s keenness to support the Arab Media Forum reflects the organisation’s belief in the constructive role that the Arab Media Forum plays,” she said, adding that the Forum annually brings together influential decision makers in the media sector to discuss ways to develop the Arab media and enhance its content, as well as understand the main challenges it faces.
