Coinciding with Eid Al Etihad 53, National Library and Archives issues Zayed – A Visual Journey

In celebration of Eid Al Etihad 53, and commemorating the journey of the Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the National Library and Archives (NLA) has gifted a substantial number of copies of its distinguished publication, Zayed – A Visual Journey, to various official institutions and prominent figures across the UAE.
His Excellency Abdullah Majid Al Ali, NLA Director General, emphasised that the National Library and Archives endowed this publication as a gift for official institutions and prominent figures because it is a photographic documentation of Sheikh Zayed’s life and his achievements spanning over seven decades.
It evokes the essence of the past and offers readers a deep insight into the challenges and triumphs that shaped the legacy of the Founding Father, which will remain an everlasting source of inspiration for future generations.
His Excellency said: “This publication is a true and documented representation of modern history that narrates the beginning and development of the UAE under the wise leadership of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It highlights the role of the National Library and Archives in providing accurate and reliable information and in enriching knowledge communities.”
His Excellency noted that Zayed – A Visual Journey holds national and cultural values, as it documents the significant deeds and virtues that marked the life of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It contains a large collection of photos arranged chronologically in 11 chapters, and catalogues Sheikh Zayed’s contributions in various fields such as urban development, education, women’s empowerment, healthcare, heritage, environment, peaceful coexistence and tolerance.
The book is an enjoyable and informative visual journey, tracing the life of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan from his early years to his significant role in Al Ain, where he served as the representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi and contributed to the city’s prosperity. The book follows his ascent to the leadership of Abu Dhabi, the progress that began there, and his Presidency of the UAE, which, under his wise leadership, established a remarkable position on the world map.
Zayed – A Visual Journey, which comprises 448 large-format pages, includes 640 photographs selected from the private photo collections of the National Library and Archives.
This makes the book a visual encyclopedia of rare images of Sheikh Zayed, his great legacy, his noble values, his generosity, and his love for his country. As a result, he remains immortal in the hearts of successive generations and becomes a role model for them in loving and being loyal to the nation.
The book not only captures significant historical moments in the journey of the Founding Father but also embodies the spirit and values of a great nation. It is a precious jewel in the NLA collection of publications, as it offers readers the chance to discover the invaluable treasures of ideals and meanings traceable through its pages.
It highlights the national values established by Sheikh Zayed on local, Arab and international levels. This book serves as a visual testimony to his enduring and immortal achievements.
