The General Command of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior launched its awareness plan geared towards promoting safety prevention and general safety efforts. The plan aims to address the risks and challenges, and raise awareness among the community members to ensure they are committed to safety instructions specified by the civil defence as part of the Ministry of Interior’s strategic plan.
The plan is quite simple and easy so that all the segments of the community can easily learn about the risks and the actions to be taken to save their lives and lives of others when an accident occurs, said Commander General of Civil Defence Major General Jassim Al Marzouqi at a press conference held on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.
The plan, developed in collaboration with the Security Media Department at the Ministry of Interior, included the launch of safety and prevention campaigns on evacuation of buildings, firefighting, use of extinguishers, petrol station safety, home safety, winter camps safety, use of smoke detectors and crowding near accidents, Al Marzouqi added.
These awareness campaigns would be disseminated through various media outlets, including the social media, and via the brochures published by the civil defence, he noted.
The 2017 awareness plan includes new awareness-raising methods such as educational films, which will be shown on television and featured on the websites of Civil Defence, he said, adding that the summer safety courses will be held for school children to enhance their awareness of the surrounding risks. Housewives, too, will attend similar courses.
According to Al Marzouqi, the plan will also focus on participation in international and regional events such as the International Women’s Day, the GCC Traffic Week, the International Day for Persons with Disabilities and other occasions to raise preventive awareness among all the community
segments.
He also praised the significant role of the media in delivering awareness messages to the public, wishing that the community will actively contribute to the success of the plan to ensure that the UAE becomes one of the safest countries in the world and to fulfil the Ministry’s goals geared towards protecting lives and properties.
