The British Fashion Council (BFC) has unveiled three new non-executive directors to its board.
British GQ Editor and London Fashion Week Men’s Chairman Dylan Jones, Founder and CEO of Farfetch José Neves and CEO of the Guardian Media Group David Pemsel have all been welcomed to the council’s board. They join existing board members Chairman Dame Natalie Massenet, Chief Executive Caroline Rush, and Non-Executive Director and fashion designer Anya Hindmarch.
Net-a-Porter founder Dame Massenet highlighted the fact that the new appointments are strategic on the part of the BFC, identifying Jones as “the voice of menswear,” Pemsel’s “expertise in building international audiences through digital platforms” and Neves’s status as a “tech entrepreneur and retail disrupter.”
She added, “All three are leaders in their field, innovators and strategists and will play significant roles in ensuring London leads in design, business, technology and communication in fashion.”
Commenting on his new position, Jones highlighted his desire to ensure London is “not only known as the home of the best creative talent but also the place for fashion businesses to grow,” while Neves stated, “The BFC will undoubtedly continue to ensure Britain stays at the forefront of global fashion and I am very humbled and honoured to offer my contribution to this group and its mission.”
Since 2009, the BFC’s executive board has briefed an advisory board of industry patrons, partners, media and educators. In 2013, Dame Natalie Massenet was appointed Chair.
