Ajman / WAM

His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, lauded the support of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for charity and humanitarian work, while inaugurating the new headquarters of the International Charity Organisation (ICO) in Al Jerf.

He said the UAE had adopted a distinguished approach to promoting charity and humanitarian action and is known for its pioneering projects. He praised the role of the country’s charitable foundations, most notably the International Charity Organisation (ICO), in providing aid and charitable assistance to the underprivileged.

He then called for uniting the efforts to support low-income communities, which is a duty and a recognition of everyone’s humanitarian responsibility to provide decent lives to underpriviliged families.

“We aim to exert all possible efforts to serve communities and support poor and marginalised people,” HH Sheikh Humaid said, stressing that charity and humanitarian work is part of the UAE’s national culture.

He said this in the presence of HH Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, while unveiling a commemorative plaque during the inauguration.

HH Sheikh Humaid toured the organisation’s building along with his delegation and was briefed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the ICO, about the organisation’s departments, halls and activities.

HH Sheikh Humaid and HH Sheikh Ammar have supported the organisation since its launch in 1984, Sheikh Mohammed said. Through its strategic vision, the ICO aims to promote the use of sustainable resources and enhance its leadership in charity and humanitarian work, as well as promote the culture of giving and the values of tolerance.

Dr Khalid Abdul Wahab Al Khaja, Secretary-General of the ICO, said that the organisation has earned its prominent status thanks to the support it offers to philanthropists.

Several Sheikhs and officials also attended the inauguration.
