Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club announced the opening of registration for the second round of Adnoc 22-foot sailing race. It is scheduled to take place next Saturday, February 11 for a
distance of 7 nautical miles.
The registration will close on February 09. The race is organised within Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club’s marine season and activities calendar of the year 2023. It includes many heritage races for different categories.
In the first round, the loader “Hasheem” for its owner Noukhatha Mohammed Marawan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, was crowned with the title of the Sheikh Zayed Festival for sailing bearings 22-foot category. It recorded the participation of more than 50 loaders from different emirates.
The 22-foot race witnesses great participations on all occasions as it is dedicated to young sailors who are on their way to largest races in other categories and are keen to go through experiences that consolidate the values of the noble maritime heritage connecting the past with the present and strengthen the national identity.
The organising committee of the race continues to work on implementing the organisational plan for the race, by approving the participating bearings, determining the starting point and track according to weather conditions.
Khalifa Al Rumaithi, head of the heritage races department at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, said that the participation of more than 50 loaders in the first round race confirms the high status of this category of races among young people, who are keen to go through this experience and learn about seagoing.
“The strong competition in the first round heralds more powerful and exciting races. The arrangements are proceeding according to program, and we expect an increased number of participants in the second round,†he added.
