The Emirates News Agency (WAM) has signed two separate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Kazakhstan’s International News Agency (Kazinform) and Tunisia Africa News Agency (TAP) to facilitate news
exchange.
The MoU with the Kazakhstani agency was signed between Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, Executive Director of WAM and Assel Tulegenova, the Director-General of Kazinform, at the World Government Summit here in
the presence of Dauren Abayev, the Kazakhstani
Minister of Information and Communications.
The MoU aims to strengthen co-operation in the field of news exchange, in line with the local laws and legislations in both countries, and set the foundation for fruitful relations and friendship between the media organisations in the UAE and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The two agencies will organise training programmes and exchange news services and digital photographs using modern technology, according to the standards of international organisations and news agencies, the MoU, signed for a five-year period, stated.
Each side is focussed on covering national occasions, conferences and local, regional and international meetings that are of interest to the other party, the MoU added.
WAM also signed a five-year MoU with the Tunisia Africa News Agency (TAP) during the summit. It was signed by Al Raisi and Dr. Hamida Al Bour, Director-General of TAP.
The two agencies will strengthen co-operation in the field of news exchange and develop ties between the media organisations in the UAE and Tunisia.
The two parties will exchange expertise, organise training programmes and exchange news, as well as digital photographs. The focus will be on national occasions, conferences and local, regional and international meetings, the MoU declared.
Al Raisi affirmed that both the MoUs were points of communication between the media outlets in the UAE, Kazakhstan and Tunisia.
The MoUs were signed at the World Government Summit, which is witnessing heavy international presence, and proves that the summit is not just about discussing achievements, but also about ties and partnerships between the UAE and other countries, he noted.
The MoUs come as the National Media Council prepares to participate in the Expo Astana 2017, he remarked.
Abayev, the Kazakhstani Minister, stressed the importance of co-operation between the media outlets for countries to be aware of the accomplishments of the other, pointing out that the MoU was a starting point for the participating parties and would be followed by developmental steps in the future.
