Sharjah Children Centres’ (SCC) philosophy of forging dynamic young leaders was evident when SCC member Namaa Ismael Alzarooni, launched ‘Let’s Read Together’ during the second meeting of the 14th session of the Sharjah Children Council. The latest literary initiative from the organisation aims to instill a lasting love of reading in children and to promote the activity as a daily habit, encouraging them to make the most of the time they spend on school buses to expand their knowledge and to incorporate reading into their daily lives.
At just 12 years of age, Namaa Alzarooni is being held up as a successful role model and a perfect example of what SCC offers to its members. A third place winner in the UCMAS International Math Genius Competition 2015, Namaa is a member of the Arabic Language Protection Society and has been active in voluntary work through numerous campaigns, including ‘Ramadan Aman,’ the Students’ Crescent, Mmualefe Society and ‘We All Present.’ She credits SCC with helping her on her path towards excellence and in helping her discover her hidden talents.
“I would like to thank the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council Ruler of Sharjah (Baba Sultan) and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (Mama Jawaher), as well as my parents and the Sharjah Children Centres for their continuous support, which has contributed to helping me build my personality and finding new skills. I am proud of being able to encourage my peers to read and to help them develop a passion for acquiring knowledge through the ‘Let’s Read Together’ initiative,” said Namaa Alzarooni.
Reem Bin Karam, Director of SCC said; “Namaa Alzarooni is the perfect role model for children and a shining ambassador for SCC. She represents what we are aiming to achieve, which is to build an educated and conscious generation. We are aspiring to forge a generation that is comfortable with innovating, that listens to others, is capable of assimilation with other cultures, believes in consultation and dialogue as a way of life and can build their
nation with love and determination.â€
