Sharjah opens gateways to a great career

Sharjah is fast emerging as an education hub, with the turnover of the industry expected to exceed US $6.7 billion by 2018. The International Education Show (IES), which
gathered leading universities from across the globe, became a testament to the same.
Students had an opportunity to interact with as many as 105 exhibitors at the event, which saw over 10 percent increase in visitor turnout for its 12th edition as compared to the last two years. The rise in the percentage of visitors reflects the growing appeal of the show as well as the rising demand for higher education in the region. Universities and colleges that participated in the IES included University of Modern Sciences, American University, Ajman University, Amity University, etc.
“In the last few years, demand for education consultants has grown owing to the increase in the number of subjects, courses and fields offered by international universities,” said Syed Tehsin Shah, CEO/MD of Foreign Education Services (FES), talking to Emirates Business. “FES helps you choose the right path and build a bright future by channelizing your talents and interests and guides you to choose the right course in the right country.”
According to the other exhibitor, Mariam Shaikh, Vice President Student Recruitment, Amity University Dubai Campus, “This is the largest education show in the Northern Emirates in which most of the leading education institutions from
the region as well as international destinations participate.” The government initiatives, magnificent infrastructure and latest facilities, along with the multi-cultural exposure to the students help the Emirates emerge as an educational hub across the world.
Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah, discussed about the emergence of the Emirates as a leading higher education destination. “Rising disposable incomes, boom in student population and an increase in preference for high quality professional as well as academic programmes have resulted in increased focus on higher education in the UAE. Besides, education is increasingly seen by the government as a major contributor to national wealth and economic development.”
“It was such a great experience to be here at Sharjah Education Show 2016. As someone with experience with different universities around the globe, I am aware of the show’s role as a community builder across the education sector.
“There has to such platforms organised on a frequent basis so that students can be guided in choosing their career paths in their desired destinations,” he said.
Ajman University also had a stall at the exhibition. It presented 33 undergraduate and 12 graduate programs. The University provided assistance in various courses from Education and Basic Science to Engineering and Business Administration. It also gave free dental check-up for visitors at the stalls, which was conducted by the graduates of
the College of Dentistry at Ajman University.
Mariam Shaikh elaborated on the career choices of students in the region. “Business Administration still remains the most popular choice with students opting for a 3-country program, Banking or for the Entrepreneurship major. Following closely at its heels is our Bachelor of Commerce Program and our Programs in Forensic Science, Architecture, Interior Design, and Aerospace Engineering.”
“Amity University offers 34 career focused programs at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels in diverse disciplines of higher education. Besides the conventional
