Spain reported the smallest increase in coronavirus deaths in more than a month as the government prepares more steps to ease one of the world’s strictest lockdowns.

The announcement marks the second move in a week to relax the lockdown. On Sunday, children up to 14 years old will be allowed to leave their homes once a day for an hour, accompanied by an adult. The state of emergency that gives force to the confinement measures is currently due to end on May 9.

If infections keep evolving in a favourable way, outdoor exercise and walks will be allowed starting May 2, he said in a televised address.
